Has anyone had any problems with gear grinding on the JD's after the clutch shim kits have been installed? I'm just now getting around to taking mine in. I had to do some bitching but it is scheduled for next week. The mechanics keep saying nothing is wrong you should count to three before shifting........ I guess JD got this bug out of the later models.

Which transmission do you have, collar or sync reverser. I have a collar shift and I must wait at least 3 seconds when shifting into gear. I thought this was normal but you are implying there is a fix for this??? More info is appreciated!

My dealer tells me 5 second. I have a 4200 collar shift. By accident I found that if I rev the engine up to 1200 or so rpm before trying to shift that it generally eliminates the grinding. I'm no mechanic and can't explain why - but give it a try.

I took my 4300 collar shift to the shop Saturday morning, should be out next week. I'll post the results. I never had to count to three with my Allis Chambers and the JD is a lot more expensive machine. ....
